If I purchase a usb based external hard-drive and connect it to my airport express, will my macbook be able to read and write to this drive wirelessly? Also, how secure will it be and will having it hooked up to the airport slow down my internet being run wirelessly through the airport? And one more question, if I put a usb hub on the airport, can I run a printer and a hard-drive, and my internet all wirelessly through the same airport express?

Nope, the Airport Express doesn't support HD from its USB port. You need to get the Extreme if you want to do networked storage.
