Just wondering - I installed istat pro widget - it gives me that "i know what's happening in my computer" fuzzy feeling that I can't get rid of from my PC days.

My question is - out of my 1 gig ram, I get some "wired", some "active", some "free" and some INACTIVE. Now, when I run loads of apps, I end up with almost no free left, but still a fair bit "inactive" (over 100Mb).

With itunes playing a video, imovie, idvd, imovie, iphoto, firefox, skype, address book running, I get the free memory down to about 10Mb, but I still get nice smooth music.

So, how come this inactive ram is inactive, and I wonder if Id get more free ram if I was to install 2Gb? - would it make a difference to me in my every day useage?

cheers :)
