Just bought my first Mac computer and was amazed to find
that if it didn't come with isight (as a Mac Pro does not), then
you are out of luck!

My Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000, that I used under XP doesn't
work with ichat, nor gets recognized with iChatUSBcam nor maccam.

You can see I tried everything.

So, the big question is, what quality webcam actually does
work with Mac OS X and (at the very least) iChat?

Thanks in advance!

MacHeadCase,

Appreciate the help....but....that driver was unable to identify
my Logitech camera.

I'd be willing to buy a new webcam if necessary, but people don't
seem to be happy with the external isight camera.

I'm looking for a good quality cam that will work as described
in my post above.

Thanks!

Where did you get that information?

Up until I got my new iMac, I had used an external iSight for years and found it's quality, etc to be outstanding.

I am extremely happy with my external iSight. I have never seen or used a better camera than the iSight.

ditto. the external isight is the best webcam I have ever used (and it is better than the built in iSights in newer mac's)

Weird because before posting the link I looked at the supported cameras and that Logitech webcam was in the list. Anyway.

I agree with the guys here, iSight was always very well liked. For an add-on, there is iGlasses.

I believe any firewire dv camera will work as a webcam in ichat, if you have one plug it in and see if it works.

Sweet! Even in a fairly well-lit room, I've found web conferencing to be a challenge with my MBP's built-in iSight. It's always way too dark. Thanks much for suggesting this goodie.

So, good thing about this forum: I've found a lot of nifty utilities that I hadn't found on my own. The bad thing about this forum: I've found a lot of nifty utilities, and my 100g drive is really starting to bulge!
