iMovie - cant drag + drop!!!

This is my first time use of the program.. but.. in all evidence that i can find, you are supposed to be able to drag imported clips (from the clip box on the right) to the timeline at the bottom. Imported clips were from a Sony digital cam. Imported files can still be viewed, without the camera connected. and are .dv format. However, when i try to drag the selected clip... it turns a transparent gray.. and will not allow to be dragged! And i cant make my movie. :( I could really use some help! thanks.

Ahah!!.. i fixed it :) just in case anyone needs to know .. do this :)

The advice I got from AppleCare solved the graying-out problem for me by trashing a playlist file: User>Library>Preferences>com.apple.iMovie.plist. IMovie then created another plist file. When the iMovie file was re-opened, clips dragged normally

worked for me :)
