Adobe Illustrator CS2 Help

I keep getting the following error for no specific reason whilst working within the application.

"The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [!EXP]

Does anyone know what the error is, or how I can stop it?

Quit Illustrator. Trash your Illustrator preferences. Relaunch Illustrator.

Path is this:

Macintosh HD ---> Users ---> Your Home Directory ---> Library ---> Preferences ---> Adobe Illustrator CS2 Settings ---> Adobe Illustrator Prefs

Unless this is a specific problem with running CS2 on Intel-based Macs... They make us trash the pref file many times in school.
