Cursor menus -- how to get rid of...

Every so often my mouse cursor changes. Instead of the standard arrow, there's an arrow with a tiny box (menu box) next to it. When the cursor is in this state, I cannot click on anything to perform typical functions. When I click on something with the cursor in this state, a menu item shows up. It's very much like the 'right mouse click' function on PCs. How did I turn this on and how do I get rid of it?
