Question on how to treat the battery!

Could somebody please tell me whether or not I can leave my macbook plugged in the mains power, with the battery inside, for, lets say, one month and then discharge it? And if so, should I discharge it fully afterwards? If not, should I just charge it, after calibration, untill 50% and then remove it?
