Got an iMac G5 here ( 2Ghz 512Mb Ram OS X.4.8 )
It keeps freezing up, sometimes right after booting up, very often when waking from sleep, did the apple test, and it froze ( on memory test )

So bought new 512mb ram and took old out...and it still locks up.

Run TTP and the TTP Protege on it, finds no problems , OR it locks up before it completes test.

I'm guessing Logic board or video, anyone think i'm correct, certianly if its logic board then its heading towards the bin!

Nope, thats only for 20" iMac , this baby is the 17"
Currently it is running fine off a firewire drive with tiger and TTP running, But every now and again it will just lock solid....i'll keep at it, but i'm more of a mind that it is Logic Board

Did you try Apple's Hardware Test? Although some people say it isn't very accurate... TTP is probably much better at this anyway. Is it still under warranty?

If it runs perfect off a external drive then the Hardware is fine most likely. So, most likely it is System Software, I'd do a 'archive n install' or 'erase n install' if your willing to wipe your data.

It could be the logic board or some bad ram. Take out all the ram and put in some you know is working well.
