    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.

Can't help ya on this one g5, i'll bump it for ya.

But, looks like it will depend on what file format you're trying to convert, e.g. ripped DVD, Quicktime file, etc.

Found a couple different ones on version tracker that look pretty good. Just did a google search for "pal to ntsc mac os x".

Anyone has done it feel free to let us know what software you've used.

For me I have a app called Visual Hub. It can convert between many different movie formats. It seems to work very well for me. It might fix the problem you have.

I'll keep visual hub in mind, however you have to pay for it. If somone knows of a free program that would be great.

I don't know if I am mistaken, but I thought, like you said, compressor did this?

Whats the reasons for the conversion? Being that PAL is better quality? Or is it a playback issue.

ntsc players can not play back ntsc. ntsc has more frames a second and few lines of resolution less, so players that are expecting a ntsc signal when they get a pal signal are greatly confused and will refuse to play it.

Such unnecessary grief! Who comes up with this bs? "Hey, I think I'll just make life harder and more complicated for everyone by making my hardware not play the normal software...no, no, no....they'll have to jump through hoops to do something simple like play a DVD."

Anyway...I hope you can pick-up on my own personal frustration with this problem.

If you want to go from PAL to NTSC, than you are going to need to "interlace" the DVD, making up for missing data. I can't explain it totally, but you'll either add frames/second or extra-data per frame.

Thus, I haven't figured out the problem totally, but you need JES Deinterlacer, MPEG Streamclip (w/ MPEG 2 ability), and Quicktime Pro.

There are more simpler programs for PC that do it all, but there is nothing for Mac.......YET!
