Ripping DVDs to External Hard Drive - Advice on Software

i plan to rip all my DVD's to an external hard drive (as i have done with my music) so that i can have one big dvd library.

I plan to buy either two 500Gb or one 1Tb external hard drive but really need advice on which software is the best to use.

From reading other posts theres seems to be :

mac the ripper
handbreak
toast
DVD2one

any advice would help.
