Can someone point me in the right direction to do this? My iBook G4 can barely open a word document without freezing. I dont have any music or videos to slow it down either.

G'day Nick Meyer & Welcome to Mac-Forum.

You didn't state which iBook model you have and there are a few of them. Just about the maximum you can go up to depending on your model is either:

1.5Gb, 1.15Gb or 1.25Gb. Some models have Ram soldered onto the LogicBoard and an additional expansion slot and the minimum RAM installed in your iBook could either be 256mb or 512mb depending of course on your model.

Here is a link to a pictorial DIY page:

The main sites for buying RAM that I've seen mentioned over and over again on Mac-Forums are Crucial.com or Newegg.com. There are others but I can't recall them at the moment. just ensure the RAM you buy matches the specifications exactly down to the fine details.

Hope this helps.

You can add up to 1.25Gb in total
