hot + slow

Ok, how come all of a sudden my mac book pro is running so **** hot, i got the fans maxed and its running at 122F i am not even doing anything but some ps...i am running it off the battery so could that cuase it to run soo hot? also its been slower lately, cuase this also be becuase of it running of the battery? i have been using it off the battery more recently but i haven't really noticed this problem when its plugged in.

It won't have anything to do with the battery. Open Activity Monitor and look for a program using a lot of CPU- that is your likely culprit. You may also want to take a look at how you're using it- ie. having the notebook on top of a blanket in bed, etc... will definitely cause it to get hot.

Certain VPN clients (especially Checkpoint) can cause abnormal CPU usage as well.

when did you last reboot?

well i think i figured it out, ussually i have it on a desk when its pluged in so it allows it cool easier but ussually when i am using it on the battery i use it on my lap or on a blanket, so i think thats why. also i was using ps, and basically all my ram was being used? could that contribute to it?

ya ram can get quite warm.

Turn the fans up a bit when you know you are going to be using an intensive app e.g. ps or dreamweaver etc..
