So ive been using my mbp under the username Shpongl3d for a while with no other users. Today I decide that I dont want Shpongl3d to be my username, i click on Macintosh HD to find the users folder, Find my username with the House icon and rename it to my first initial and last name. Instead of simply changing the name like I thought it would it makes a new user and switches that new user as the default with the house icon over it. The problem is I dont know how to switch back to the way I had it before. I already searched about this problem and the solutions ive found have not worked for me (going to system settings and trying to set default login) If I try to set the default login user this way it only shows the new user and not my original. How can I switch back to the old user?

Edit: I tried the solution in this topic http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46212&highlight=switch+user and restarted, everything reset to defaults, background, my programs in the dock are missing, itunes is empty, firefox is gone etc please help
