Backup Programs

I would like some advice on a backup program for my mac. I would like to back up to an external HD. I GOOGLEd some possibilities, but would like to hear from ya'll too.

My own research on the subject has yeilded very few encouraging leads. Apple's Backup is nice, but requires an annual $99 subscription. Unfortunately, it's REALLY good software. Might be worth the purchase price. It' just unfortunate that you cant' buy it seperately.

if you get Lacie external HD, you can get silverkeeper from their websithe, its free. very nice app. specify the shedule and it will automaticaly backup specified folders and keep them up to date. no need in manual backups.
