SuperDrive question

Hi...I have an iMac with a superdrive. I need to burn a data disc with a file that exceeds 700 megabytes. So obviously I need to use a DVD-R. The question is can the data be read on an older G3 iMac which has a DVD drive?

Thanks for reading.

I believe what Graphite is suggesting, is move this post from the Anything goes forum
to the General Mac hardware forum.

Yup.

But the DVD drive im asking about is not the superdrive. (though more stats on which one it is would help 2)
