Unstable wireless connection

I'm having some trouble with unstabel wireless connection between my iTunes and AirTunes. Normaly the tranferspeed is 56Mbps, but sometimes drops to for example 24Mbps. I've never noticed it before I started using AirTunes, where the music takes pauses like internet radio in the old days :) I assume this buffering could have something to do with the unstable wireless transfer? Is it my equipment or maybe settings software?
