Apple Lossless codec and color iPod

So I bought an iPod from ebay a while ago and everything seemed to work fine. Recently I started ripping my CDs with apple lossless audio codec and when I try to play them on my iPod it will freeze the automaticaly restart itself. I've tried every other encoding an it all works fine, but not lossless. It's a Fourth generation iPod with color display with firmware 1.2.1 and yes, I tried restoring it. If there are any ideas they'd be appreciated, thanks.

Strange, I used lossless for a long time untill it became too space-cosuming for my growing library. I used it on 30g iPod photo.

I have the 30GB also, so I know that it should work.
