I wonder where Apple TV takes it's media from. Front Row for example takes all videos from iTunes, but it looks in my Movies folder as well. So will Apple TV do this as well or will it restrict me to iTunes? I doubt it will, because then my Home Videos which are in my Movies folder won't be there unless I add them to iTunes. Steve never showed onw-made content being played in Apple TV.

well since its being done wirelessly i think it needs itunes to send the data to it where-as front row is on the computer so it can look its self. So my bet is that it only works with itunes, but I might be wrong.

Well it will sync with iTunes, but what about when the media is present on it's internal hard drive.
