Does anyone have any recommendations for good freeware games? I particularly enjoy games like Bejeweled, Tetris, and Zuma. Those kinda' games. I know they make them for Mac, but I was hoping to get some good clones.

And if there's nothing along those line of games, any other "must have" games?

Cheers for the help!

I HAVE to recommend Digger, the best arcade game I have ever played. You can get it, free, from here:

http://www.digger.org/index.html

Giving away my age here, I have played it on DOS, Windows 95, Windows XP and Linux. At the digger site, you will see that it says it has a unix version which it says works with FreeBSD - VERY convenient since that is what Mac OS X is based on. So, it MAY work on the Mac. I haven't tried it here yet.

If not, treat yourself to a game of it on your nearest WinXP box. It (almost) makes it worth putting up with WinXP... but not quite! :)

If you do try out the Mac OS X version of it, please post back and let us know how it goes!

Try www.gamehouse.com for compatible Mac games. Some you can try before you buy and they have the games you're interested in.

Even though gamehouse.com is a paid one. But it charges nominally when compared to others. Moreover it has an extensive range of games to download and play. One can definitely try it.

Its the documentation page for games htat run natively in ubuntu. ALOT of these freeware games, in the true nature of open source, are available on windows, mac and linux. Those that arent you can run under X11.

My personal favourite is privateer remake:D

To answer your original questions;

Quinn = Tetris
http://www.stud.tu-ilmenau.de/~siha-in/quinn.html

JewelToy = Bejeweled
http://www.aegidian.org/jeweltoy/

Never played Zuma, but the gameplay looks very similar to another game I've played... can't recall the name... I'll see if I can't come up with a clone...

(btw - I just re-entered the world of apple last week with my new macbook, so compiling these lists is good for both of us) :)

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Some darn good games in there. I especially enjoy JewelToy.

Cheers!
