Hi all,
New to the forum but need help. Recently moved my itunes folder off my mac book onto an external drive. All worked well for a few days but yesterday when i quit itunes and tried to eject the drive i kept getting the message "drive is in use by another application". No programmes were runing. This happened on two occasions. I had been playing music, movies and tv shows from the drive. Please help!

are you sure you didn't delete something from the drive (and didn't empty the trash)?

or are you sure you're really quitting the apps? not sure how new of a mac user you are. if you are new, make sure to actually quit the apps (a small black arrow next to the app on the dock means it's still active).

Something that might be happening is that Spotlight is busy cataloging the drive. I find that every time I plug in a new external drive, I have to immediately go to the Spotlight preferences panel and add the drive to the Privacy tab. Is this possibly what is going on?

If you hear the drive cranking even after you have quite iTunes, this might probably be what is going on.
