Little bit confused

Ok I didn't buy my MBP from Apple, I got it from the Apple collection. Its basically a store in Akihabara (Tokyo) that specialises in everything mac. 5 floors of joy, anyway. I just did a check on the lenght of warrenty I have left on the Apple website. The purchase date is over 6 weeks off and the model specifications aren't quiet right.

When I bought my system, I was told it was new, it was in it box everything as it should be. But the apple profiler says my system has a glossy screen, no it doesn't also it has one gig instead of 512MB that it says on the box. Whats going on here? Should I contact apple? the machine has been running slow as of late but apart from that no problems. I am just concerned I don't have warrenty or something.

you got hosed my friend. Goto the cops. they've obviously reboxed it and sold it as something else. I wouldn't be surprized if it was a refurb or rebuild

Not as simple as that, I am in Japan. Laws are very different. I am going to the apple store tomorrow definitley something is up.

you bought it in japan? looks like your gonna pay for not waiting to get back to the US, in a big time way.

I doubt it as I have never been to the US before. I live in Japan now, just because I speak English it doesn't mean I am American.

Apple said that the screen is something that has happen a few times. As long as it matches the box it isn't a problem. As for the 4007 issue they haven't got a clue. They asked me to bring it in for a quick check.

In the 5 years or so I lived in Japan I found the service there to far exceed that of what I found back home in the United States. I won't assume you are Japanese but if you have Japanese language ability it will help a lot. It is most likely that they will bend over backwards to try fix the problem for you.

If it is a scam reporting it to the police is a very good thing to do. Even petty crimes that are reported in Japan are thoroughly investigated. If it is a large shop in such a high visibility area of Tokyo such as Akihabara I would find it highly unlikely to be a scam rather than an honest mix up. Good luck with that.
