I recently dug out my old iBook G3 and have started to use it again. It was loaded with OS X v10.2. I upgraded it with the Software download and got some major display problems. Vertical lines, distortion, etc. When I reinstall 10.2, it goes back to normal. I've upgraded it using the Software download, Combo download, v10.2.8 system disks and v10.3 system disks. The results are always the same. Once it goes past v10.2.8, the distortion appears.

For reference, it's an iBook G3 700mhz.

What version of the operating system are you trying to load 10.2 or 10.3? Are both install disks full installs?

My goal was to be up and running on v.10.3. Actually, I've sort of solved my problem. While running v.10.2, I upgraded to 10.2.8 and got the display problem. I then upgraded to 10.3 and had the same problem. However, when I ran the combo update for 10.3 the problem went away. Thanks for your assistance.

Which combo updater did you use?
