SuperDrive will not stay open

G5 Dual 2.5Ghz 1Gb RM 2x250Gb Drives SuperDrive OSX 10.3.9
I have Dual 2.5Ghz PM G5 with a Gig of Ram running OSX 10.03.9. I have recently noticed the superdrive will not stay open. The tray goes back in after about four seconds. Is there a setting that turns this option off?

Try zapping the PRAM (hold down Option-Command-P-R after restart chime) if that doesn't work, you might want to replace the SuperDrive. They have the newer 16X SuperDrives at MacSales.com for under $50.
