well, you can navigate through open windows using the arrow keys. I use apple+down arrow to open folders, docs. Or in column view (hit apple+3) you can simply use the arrows to go backwards and forwards through folders (with apple+down arrow to open a document)

To jump to an item in the window, hit the letter key corresponding to the first letter of the item you want. eg. in applications, to jump to quicktime, hit 'q'

I believe it's entirely possible to navigate through OS X with just the keyboard, and no mouse.

move windows by keyboard - (not navigating)

hi,

thank you for the quick reply, but i think you misunderstood my question.

I didn't ask for navigating through a webpage or through the finder.

I want to move the entire window by keyboard,
like clicking at the window at the top and move it to a different corner.
I want to rearrange the windows without using my trackpad or mouse..

hope anybody can help me

hmm, in that case, how did you mean 'like safari'. I've never known it possible to move a browser window with just the arrow keys, just that you can scroll with them.

If you could explain how you move a safari window like that, perhaps we can work out some kind of a solution. :)

hey,

ok maybe my explanations were a bit mistakable, (english is not my mother tongue :( ).

I just wanted to say: "any window" therefore I said "instances"

it could also be a finder, a terminal or some other window.

I just want to move ANY window without using a mouse.
I thing rearranging some windows without grabbing the mouse would be very useful..

no, I don't mean re-sizing. i just mean: to move a window

like grabbing it at the top and move it..

Hmm.

I believe you can only do this with the mouse by grabbing one of the edges.

Bizarrely, the only way I've found to do this is with 'voice over mode' turned on. Switch Voice Over mode on and you get a load of keyboard commands, listed in detail here.

ctrl-option-` = move window with keyboard. hold shift for smaller movements
ctrl-option-~ = resize window with keyboard. hold shift for smaller increments
ctrl-option-escape = stop moving or resizing

You can then press command-F5 to turn voice over off again. Considering how useful that is, it's annoying that you have to have the voice over reading everything out to you just to use it :(

edit: you can turn the voice volume to 0 in the voice over utility if you want to use this a lot :)
