I've mainly done Actionscript and PHP programming the last few years. Back at uni though I did a lot of Java and C++. I'd like to get back into these more meatier languages.

What is xCode exactly? Is it an IDE for Mac? What languages can I use to develop on it? Can I develop Java applications with it that use the standard J2SE classes?

Xcode is an IDE. You can develop programs in C, C++, Objective-C or Java, scripting in AppleScript.

What about C# can XCode do it seeing as C# is Java in disguise?

XCode can't do C# because there's no .NET runtime (Mono or otherwise). It's not really "Java in disguise" at all, because they share nothing but a few high level concepts and some syntax.

People said that of C# as it shared some qualities of Java but they're very different undernearth.
