I need to install 10.4 on a PowerBook G4. The only problem is that the SuperDrive is broken and won't read the discs.

I was thinking I could use my iMac G5 to make a disc image... and then install it somehow via email...

any ideas?

Welcome to Mac-Forums, tbresch! Enjoy your stay!

Insert the Tiger DVD in the iMac G5's optical drive.

Start up your PowerBook into FireWire Target Disk Mode.

Then connect both computers via FireWire, run the installer making the PowerBook as the one to get the new OS installation. This ought to work.

If not, check this MacOSXHints tip, they offer tweaks to this scenario.
