HELP New User iPod 2GB cannot download to it

How can I download tunes to my new ipod? Have plugged it into my computer but when I try to sync to it nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? This is actually my granddaughter's Xmas present, it could not be downloaded to her computer so have tried to do it with mine and nothing happens. Be glad of some advice please. Many thanks.

Inside of iTunes, you should just be able to drag and drop whatever songs you want onto it. If it doesn't show up in iTunes, try unplugging it from the computer and plugging it back in.
