of what one you're on?

not sure if that's the question.

if so just click the airport icon in the menubar, the connection you're using will be "checked".

I WANT IT!!!!!!, You have fiber or what??

To check your current speed you can open Activity Monitor ( in Applications - Utilities) Click on the network tab. A lot of info here, just above the box on the bottom right it gives you the current speed either in Data or Packets.

Speakeasy will give you your max available throughput

Opera provides the download speed of each web page, also gives you a separate download tab (they call it transfers) and will show you the speed of each download you have going.

This is off-topic so lets not let it get past this post and stay on topic, but I have that new Verizon FiOS (fiber optic up until the house, then it comes the rest of the way to the computer through the standard electrial outlet in your house then from there they throw a fancy box that hooks up next to your outlet providing an ethernet jack to go to a router they give you. The speed I gave was wireless, my quad that is actually attached to the router via ethernet is a little faster.)
