Is there a way to burn DVDs right from what Tiger gives you? Or do I need to find a 3rd party program? All I want to do is back up some files.

iDVD will burn DVDs from most movie file types if that's what you're looking for.

and a "burn folder" will also burn to dvd if you're just looking to archive lots and lots of data.
