MacBook Pro will not mount CD

Help, please. My new MacBook Pro will not mount a data (pdf files) CD. My old PB G4 sees the CD perfectly. What am I doing wrong?

MacMini M-1 MacOS Monterey, iMac 2010 27"Quad I7 , MBPLate2011, iPad Pro10.5", iPhoneSE
Do other CD's mount and read ok? Same with DVD's? Could be the drive in the MBP does not like the media. Seen that a few times in my life.
