• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have a large video file that I want to split up so I may put it on a cd. It is about 926mb. I tried to import it into iPhoto, but instead received a prompt telling me that there was not enough room on the hard drive to import it. I checked and I have 5gb left of free space. I dont know of any other way to do it. Or perhaps a program to compress the file, like a zip file. I dont know what the Winzip counterpart would be on a mac. Any ideas?

What Mac do you have? If you have a SuperDrive I would suggest simply putting it on a DVD, then there is no splitting required.
If you do have to split it up, then iMovie would be the best option for that.

I have a Mac Mini without the superdrive, so a cdr is my only option. I have no clue as to why it wont import into imovie.
