hardwired, and still no signal?

well my router decided to give up so I ended up just plugging my ethernet cable into the side og mt powerbook. well all was well for a few days, but when I got home from out of town I wasn't able to gwt a signal. I went into my network connections and it says I'm connected via ethernet cable and even gives me my i.p. address, but I can't opeb up any pages what so ever.

what gives?

Are you on DSL or cable modem?

Are you saying you have your PowerBook connected directly to the cable/DSL modem via ethernet?

If so, the first thing I would check would be to make sure all the appropriate lights are on-- you have signal from the cable company, etc.

If you're on DSL, you may have to connect the modem through PPoE to the DSL provider. This is a script that runs that provides a login/password combination.

A little more info will help us troubleshoot. Let us know!

ahh yes.

It's a cable modem, I get all the function lights, showing that it's recieving and sending a signal.
