I have an iBook, G3, which runs on OSX10.4. It has started to start up to a blaaaack screen which I thought I would never have to see on a mac. The command line screen comes up with Login: I login, and it welcomes me to Darwin and then I am stumped. I have no idea what to do next. Any one out there who can help?

Welcome here, avciarchitects. forum rules say to not cross post.

With google, I came up with this.

You could also boot holding down the Option key (this will force the Mac to search for all bootable systems available on your hard drive) but I think this might not fix the issue permanently. You would have to try to see and make sure.

Or again you could hold down the X key, which would force it to boot into Mac OS X. Again, you would have to try to see if this would make it a permanent change.
