How do I convert Itunes TV shows to .avi or mpeg4 so I can play it on other players?

I own a video ipod and I recently purchased an Archos player (for the TV recording and bigger screen) I have a bunch of shows purchased from Itunes. Which software will convert the Itunes files to another format such as .avi or mp4 or mp2 etc. The archos will play practically anything with the plugins. Thanks
