Hey,

I got my macbook a couple of days ago and the camera worked fine at first, but now the image that it shows is just a solid green color. Also the green light next to the lens is always on.

Does anyone know what is wrong?

You may have already tried this, but sounds something a simple restart could help.

The green LED indicates that the camera is running. The green image is either an "effect", or the application is stuck.

In either case, a restart should do it.

if you didnt close out of photobooth properly it will still stay green.

My iMac did this soon after buying it, Photobooth would only show a green image and the green light was on. A restart fixed the issue.

Interestingly when I was cleaning the display last week, I noticed as I gently rubbed the screen, the green LED flickered on and off on the iSight several times. I tried to identify a single position on the screen that caused this but of course it never happened again. Makes me think mine was caused by a loose connection internally, wonder if yours is the same.

Same thing just happened to me. I called Apple support and they told me how to fix it. You can call them yourself and have them walk you through it or just follow these instructions which is exactly what they had me do.

1. Shut down OS X
2. Unplug the AC adapter
3. Remove the battery
4. Hold down the power button for 5 seconds (this apparently restarts the factory settings)
5. Put battery back in and plug in AC adapter

Here's the mildly tricky part:

6. Locate the Apple key, Option key, P key, and R key
7. Push the power button then hold down these four buttons
8. Continue holding until you here the Apple startup chime sound twice
9. After the second chime, release the keys
10. OS X will then startup and the problem will be resolved

hey, i had the exact same problem yesterday but when I tried the PRAM reset it didn't work. When I tried the PMU(power management unit) reset it worked and my photobooth works fine now. When it was showing green, I tried to use a different program with the iSight camera. iChat didnt work, and photobooth displayed the problem in the first place, but I tried it with Skype and it worked fine.
