Why are there black boxes around everything I click on?

I have a new MAC G5 with the Intel Processor. Everything I click on (icons, windows), shows a black box around the edges. What is the reasoning for this and how do I turn it off? It's driving me crazy! :eek:

Go to system prefs > universal access > turn voice over off
