After owning my Apple refub iPod 5g(1st edition w/out search function) 30GB, it is begining to lag a little bit only when selecting a song. I have only aobut 4-5gigs filled and I do use it quite often. In fact its my music box for the car. Is it just me or is there something I can do to increase its response time? Is there a defrag for iPods? Any help appreciated.

I think this can't really be helped, but you can try resetting it by toggling the hold switch 4 times then holding the center and menu button simultaneously for 6-10 seconds.

I have been having the same problem. It freezes up for like half a second or a second sometimes when i select a song. It freezes up in the middle of the two frames. I have a 30GB iPod Video 5G. I don't think there's anything wrong with your iPod, don't worry :)

Yeah, I figure its more of a hard drive issue. But mine does that too, it will just suddently stop and continue a second later.

try a restore.. It WILL delete EVERYTHING on the ipod so make sure the info is backed up.

that should help
