I know that it is possible for Half-Life to run on Windows XP through Bootcamp, but does anyone have first hand experience? Like performance, framerates, etc?

Half Life is pretty old, I won't see why it wouldn't run.

I can run Half Life 2 just fine on my MacBook Pro, but its video card is a little nicer :)

the title said half-life 2, so that's what i'm assuming he meant.

even if he did mean half life, i'm guessing it still requires some sort of dedicated video. and even if it doesn't, the frame rate would most likely suffer drastically which would be no good at all for an fps.

Yeah I meant Half-Life 2. I have seen several videos on YouTube showing footage of the game running on the MacBook, but I was just curious to know whether any of the people in this community have had any experience with this. I used to run it on an old 1.2GHz PC, with 384mb of ram, and a 32mb video card. So I'm assuming it would run rather smoothly on low settings. I would try it, but I do not get my MacBook until Christmas :(

I'm sure it will run ok with everything turned down. Its kinda getting to be an older game and its pretty efficient. You dont need a dedicated video card to play it.

I ran X3 on my macbook pro (1st gen) and it ran alright, it would have run better if I turned some things down.

mb pro is a different animal.

we macbookers have no dedicated video which makes gaming a tricky and sometimes dissapointing situation.

On my Mac Pro, it runs just fine. I use a GeForce 7300 GT for a graphics card, though, so I don't know about MacBook Pros.

I play Counter Strike Source competitively on my mbp. I will actually be using my macbook pro next weekend in the biggest CS:S Lan party ever in DC.

I get about 80-100fps constant while playing CS:S, as for half life 2, i would assume you would get the same, but I have not tried it.

Not ll video games require a dedicated video card, many games will run on integrated cards, but as said your need to turn down details / resolutiosn and eye candy, agame like the original half life would run perfectly on integrated, just as games like diablo II and such would as well, or civilization 3, obviously high end games like most of todays game need more power, but some can run as they are well coded to run on lower end systems.

half life 2 like CPU power and Ram, which lets it plays on lower end systems, integrated, may at 640 x 480 if your lucky :)
