How does a Mac work with MSN messenger? I've used it for years on my PC and kinda miss it now that I have a Mac (almost 2 weeks). Any difference or anything better?

Well the mac works fine with it. However Microsoft Programers don't put much effort into it.

If I have Adium and my friends have Messenger will that work between all of us? Also, thanks for the quick replies.

yep, it's just a client - the account will work exactly the same.

plus it's free, so you really have nothing to lose.

it's got lots of options for how you want it to look and sound, you can really tailor it to suit your tastes.

I'm told I have to sign up for a messenger service first, then sign up for Adium. Why would I need Adium if I already have MSN? Maybe I just need to open my old account and somehow install it on my new MAC. Am I confused or what?

msn is a service and a tool (client). adium is only a client.

just like email, you can sign up for any account, and use any number of tools to access that account.

sign up for msn, you'll be able to download the client for free, see if you like it.
after that try adium, you may like it better, you may not (my guess is that you will).

He said that he has used MSN for years on his PC, so that implies that he already has signed up for an MSN account.

So all he has to do is download Adium and configure it for the MSN account that he already has.
