.Mac Mail questions

Why am I finding it so difficult to just add names and addresses to the address book? Not very good helps, even with .mac tutorials. Also, why would I need sync? Can't seem to figure it out...but I've only had my imac for 1 week after switching from PC. Thanks for help.

do you have the addresses on another machine. or something. You can import them from entourage, or your palm, or your bluetooth phone, another PC. I think even Yahoo can export to vCard, I'm not sure.

So are you doing it one at a time or something?

My pc died (lost all contacts) and I need to do them one at a time as I get them from people. I should be able to just click on addresses and add what I want, but doesn't seem to be that simple.

Ok, so you have Address Book open, and you hit the + button at the bottom of the column to add a contact. And you just start adding info, and use tab to move from one field to the next.

Well, I thought it was going to be easy, but I'm not getting the + button with address book open. First of all, the only way to open the address book is to start a new message. The left column has on + button and I can't find any way to just add contacts. Help again!

are you in .Mac online. Or are you using the Address Book program on your Mac in the Applications folder. The program which can sync with your .Mac account.

I just click the stamp on the dock to bring up my mail so guess I'm in the applications folder.

double click the icon on the desktop that says. Macintosh HD, then select the Applications folder. With in the Applications folder there is a program called Address Book. That is the Address Book program

If the template you are presented with in Address Book is missing a field you'd like to see there, you can create and apply your modifications to all the vCards you'll create with your contacts' info.

Simply open Address Book and in the menubar, go to Card ---> Add field ---> Edit Template... and you can make your modifications there.
