Question for a friend with iChat

She installed iChat wrong and now when she wants to re-install it she has to add her buddies individually how do you switch it so it imports her buddies from AIM

How did she install iChat wrong? It is part of the OS.
It uses the same server as AIM, so since the AIM buddy list isn't stored locally it should just be there when she signs onto iChat with her AIM name. There is no need to import anything.

did she sign on with a .mac account instead of aim?

she's most likely signing into the wrong account.

make sure she's signing into the AIM account, not .mac.


Try going into your preferences and looking under the accounts tab. Try setting up a new account through aim. Everything should be automatic once the account is setup. The buddy list ISN'T stored locally.
