• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have rip a few movies using DVD Shrink I watch them on my PC, on my Macbook and on my regular dvd player connect it to my TV. The quality of these rip DVD is exellent thanks to DVD Shrink. The problem I have I want to copy all these movies to an WD external hard drive and play them on my Macbook; well I was ale to copy to my WD hard drive but I couldn't play these movies on my macbook; somebody told me to download VLC, I did and I was able to play the movie on my macbook but the quality of the picture was terrible; the DVD file on the WD is 4.4GB the original size on the DVD; so finaly my question is why when I play the movie using VLC the quality of the video was so terrible, can some one give a tip as to what I'm doing wrong or what do I need to do to improve the quality of the play back DVD.
Thanks in advance
