can't remove icons from desktop

The other day, three icons, Network, Servers, and .DS_Store appeared on my desktop out of the blue. How do I get rid of them?

Could it be some kind of security breach? I'm using an unprotected wireless connection. Ehhh I don't know.

Somehow you turned on Invisible Files by accident. Copy paste this into Terminal (Applications>Utilities):

defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE; killall Finder

Then press Return.

I had installed TinkerTool and turned on the "show hidden files" option.
