I have a partition that I would like to hide from my desktop. However there is only an option in OS X to hide groups or types of drives.

Is there a (preferably free) application to hide certain items from my desktop? Please let me know. Thanks

Go to Finder > Preferences

There, you can choose to show/hide types of drives. (You cannot choose to show/hide ONE specific drive, though.)

Edit: What the heck, must've been in a daze or something, I didn't read the question properly at all, whoops

Thanks. Like I said there is only an option to hide groups of drives. I would like to find a way to hide specific drives. Thanks anyway :)

Just select the partitions you don't want on there and hit Command+E.

Tried doing that. Rather than ejecting just the partition it ejects all partitions on that single drive. :(

Is the other partition Windows? If so...

You can stop OS X from showing the Windows volume on the desktop by going into Windows and renaming the from "untitled" to ".untitled" or ".whateveryouwant".

The prefix "." will stop OS X from auto mounting the volume on the desktop.

Don't know if this will work with other OS's -- Let me know :)

Hope this helps
