Close the lid, but not sleep?

Is there any way of doing this?

I.E. I want to listen to my jams but not leave my laptop open.

I think I worded everything correctly lol

I don't believe so. The closest thing you can get to that is dimming your monitor to the lowest setting, which is a black screen..

thanks for the info! Does this only apply to Macbooks? I didn't see anythingthing for the iBooks or a clamshell mode for that matter in System Preferences -> Display

Well I went to my friends laptop and I could not find clamshell mode...

Yes, it applies to all MacBooks.
I didn't see anythingthing for the iBooks or a clamshell mode for that matter in System Preferences -> Display
That is because iBooks don't natively support clamshell mode.
