MacBook Pro Won't Start

I work at a school and a teacher in my school set her MacBook Pro to update firmware using Software Updates. During the update, she closed the lid on her laptop and left for the night. Now, the laptop won't even bring up the boot up screen. None of the keyboard commands work. Does anyone know of a way to at least reset the firmware or what else the problem might be?
