• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

When I try to burn a dvd in toast 6 , it starts encoding, then I get the message "Could not record the disc because there is a problem wiht the source material, eror code 18774" This only happens when burning a few of my older movies. I use DVD backup, then DVD2onex-copying the movie only at a constant ratio. Is it just the movie or am I doing something wrong?

finally figured it out

go to tp://webpages.charter.net/ernsta/video1.htm (outdated link removed)
I followed the first tutorial. It is very basic and easy to understand. The main difference is when using toast, I used the data tab instead of the video. It worked in my RCA tv with a dvd player built in (i.e. low quality player) so it does work. MUCHO thanks to Galactica.
