Can anyone provide a list of PCI or USB dial-up modems that are compatible with this powermac? PCI is preferable, but USB would work as well. When I first purchased it I knew of a bunch of websites that listed compatible hardware, as I planned on doing some upgrades (never happened...).

Considering there are people who can't even afford to feed their families, more than you would think. Not everyone can afford to live a lifestyle of luxury and must prioritize their wants and needs.

Socialist rants aside, I am considering giving my old mac to my parents for Christmas, and they are dial-up users.

You may want to try eBay and purchase the original dial-up modem that came with it. I'm assuming the G4 you have either has a broken modem or doesn't have one at all. If I still had my G4 DA I'd just pull it outta there and ship it to you.

heh, i appreciate the offer. I bought it from a university surplus auction, so no, there was never a modem to begin with. So you're saying the modem that comes with it is PCI interface?

That was rude! Some people use dial up. Not everyone can spend $50+ a month on a fast internet connection.

The standard factory modem that originally came with the G4 DA system was a PCI interface, but was actually a little module that screwed onto the logic board by the I/O ports (USB, FireWire, etc.), i.e. it didn't plug into the PCI slot. If you search eBay for "G4 modem" or something to that extent you will most likely find a ton of stuff. I'm sure you could find one for $5 or less.
