I don't know anything about x11 except that i need it to run a particular application. When i open the app i get an error that says

"XDroplets Error

Your selected X11 environment 'X11.app' could not be launched. Please use the XDroplets setup program to select your X11 environment"

what is this and what do i need to do?

Thanks

We need a little more info:

What computer do you have
What version of OS X
How are you trying to start X11
What X11 app are you trying to run
How did you install it
Are you using your own .xinitrc file

Power Book G4
10.4.8
I just installed X11SDK.pkg from the install disc 1
trying to run GNUBG - a back gammon application downloaded from:

http://www.gnubg.org/

when i try to run the application i get the error message
what is a xinitrc file?

Perhaps i haven't installed X11 properly. Do i have to open X11 before i run GNUBG?

I really have no clue what i am doing!!
your help is appreciated

Ok, first off X11SDK isn't X11. It's the Software Development Kit. Look for X11User.pkg. If you cant find it, just run the optional software installer.

Don't worry about the xinitrc file unless you want to run another window manager.

As far as running X11 before GNUBG, depends. Read the docs from the game.

Edit: Looking at the website for the game...it's for Jaguar and Panther. Don't see anything about Tiger. It may not work for you.
