Well, these used to be illegal but I think maybe Ofcom have changed the rules. Has to be one of the most sort after iPod accessories...is this true or have the rules not yet changed?

No, they are still illegal in the UK. Check this link, item #2.

Here's a link to the press release that says they're considering dropping the restriction.

Google should be one of your bestest friends. :)

would'nt prevent thousands from owning one in the u.k.

their overall availability in shops in the uk suggests change to antiquated

legality is enevitable. :mac:

I think the restriction was dropped, and it coincided with their sudden mass availability, including a number of clones and the like.

The restriction is still in place according to the site.

Whether or not people are complying and whether or not the restriction is being policed are separate issues.

They dropped the restriction in Germany this April, so maybe the UK will change their policy soon as well...

According to PCWorld it's still illegal in the UK to use them, however with the expected change I very much doubt Ofcom have a problem.

Ah, it'll be one of those 'legal to buy, illegal to use' devices :)

I've been using my iTrip for just under a year, it's the best thing ever since those 1/8" jack/cassette/cd player adapters.

But alas, sold the iPod, and a new XM is going in soon. :) w00t for FunGus53!
